Samsung Canada - Solve For Tomorrow Technology Grant
Last week, at the Conference for Canada’s Outstanding Principals, Samsung
Canada, one of the Learning Partnership’s partners in education, committed $1
Million to Canadian Public Education.
Each of the 40 schools across Canada represented by Canada’s Outstanding
Principals for 2014 was presented with a $20,000 Samsung Solve for Tomorrow
The Solve for Tomorrow
initiative is intended to support 21st Century Learning Goals in our
schools. This grant will be used to provide various pieces of classroom
technology for our school such as Tablets, Chromebooks, or Laptops. Samsung Canada has also committed the technical
support required to ensure the equipment we receive best suits our needs and
that it is set up and working properly. We
are currently talking with their technical people and our school district
technology team to help move things forward.
As we move forward in partnership with Samsung, they will also survey our
students, teachers and possibly parents to determine how the technology is
impacting students at the classroom level. They are hoping that this technology will be
in our school by April or May at the latest.
We are extremely grateful to Samsung Canada and the Learning Partnership
for their dedication to Public Education.
NL Winter Games
March 10, 2014We want to extend our congratulations to some of our current AND former students of Baccalieu who were involved in competing at the Provincial Winter Games held in Clarenville during the week of March 3rd-9th.
Avery Ash was a member of the Avalon Region Volleyball Team while Morgan Eddy, Andrew Parsons, Jennifer Tuck, and Katie Keats were all competing with the Avalon Region Badminton Team.
Avery's volleyball team was defeated in the bronze medal match, finishing just out of the medals. The badminton team was awarded Silver Medals after narrowly losing a best of five encounter against Labrador 3-2.
All of our athletes were fantastic representatives of our school and our region and we are very proud of their performance at the Games.

The PowerSchool program here at school makes extensive use of e-mail to inform parents of issues pertaining to their children (attendance, grades, discipline, etc.).
In order for parents to benefit from this service, we need to have your e-mail address entered into our system. We are asking parents to send us an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org so we will have a record of your e-mail address. In the "subject" line of your e-mail, please type your name using the following format: Surname, First Name (eg. Smith, John). Please type your child's name in the body of the e-mail. You will receive an automated response indicating that we have received your e-mail.
Accessing the PowerSchool ESD Parent Portal Resources Webpage
January 16, 2013
A little while ago, parents should have received a memo describing how to access the PowerSchool Parent/Student portal resources webpage from the main ESD website (www.esdnl.ca). We still have parents who have not yet gone through the process of setting up access to their child's information.
To set up your account, please use the password on the memo you received, and click on the PowerSchool Parent Portal hyperlinked icon, at the bottom right of the screen (see screen shot below.)
Please contact us here at school (587-3210) if you have any issues or concerns.
